Yes, I finally got through the week, although I've got an even worse one coming up... There's a band concert, a choir concert, a Composition paper, and lots of play rehearsing to do next week....
But enough of all this stress stuff.... I want to tell you some random t hings that have happened...
- A friend fainted in choir today. She locked her knees and totally just crumpled on the risers with a KLUNK. A nurse had to come with a wheelchair and she was all red. She's all right, but it was a different experience.
- Today we sang with the pit orchestra and we kept going so slow!! Our vocal director told us that we need to tell the band teacher we needed to go faster. But the band teacher was like, "Quit telling me we're going to slow!" Ugh.
- We got to talk about the media today in Gov. Class. Here's what I feel about the media and it's political importance. It doesn't matter what the media ships out. It's what WE as citizens take in, and how we interpret it. The only reason the media puts up these "fluff" stories about Paris Hilton or puppy shows is because the media companies know that it's this type of thing that will make MONEY. They don't care about what the people need... they only care about what the people wants to hear, becuase people will pay to see and hear what they want to see and hear. So... what's the solution?
EDUCATION!!
We need to inform the masses about what is important. Teach them to analyze and scrutinize what they watch and take it for what it really is. We need to teach them to appreaciate REAL news and understand the difference between ENTERTAINMENT and NEWS. We need to pay for real news. Not the fake stuff. Use some discression. Maybe then those big news companies will change their stance on what's important, and we'll be more informed. Then both problems will be solved!! Hooray!!
- The athlete's really cute...
- Still talking a lot to Thaddeus, though our conversations now are a lot more lighthearted, generally. At this moment we're talking about System of a Down... I don't really REALLY like them, but they've got some moments I like a lot. They do wonders with melody and harmony and they have some cool foreign influences. So yeah, happier chats for Helena.
- I've got rehearsal in five minutes so I'd better go...

Something by Gustav Mahler but I can't remember What it's called
Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky
Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Bach
Hoedown by Aaron Copeland

Motorcycles, Across the Universe, and Texting
So I've got some updates...
First off, my dad decided to up and trade our 80s Ford Mustang for a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. I think he's reached his midlife crisis. Mom's so excited. I find this whole thing very comical and I have trouble not laughing to myself when I think of my dad driving a Harley. He's so tall and skinny and his hair is graying and he doesn't even own a suitable leather jacket. Haha. But I'd love to ride it once or twice... I could never drive one myself, but to ride it would be fun.
My friend Pollo is mad at me because I don't like the movie "Across the Universe." I saw it last week, expecting great things. But all I got was a boatload of psychedellic nonsense. It really glorifies the '60s lifestyle with the drugs and the avant-garde sexuality and the breaking of the laws... I understand that those things happened, but why make it look so good? Drugs do terrible things to people, and immorality is already a poison in our society. Why make it worse by coming out with these movies of teen life and freedom and love and stuff that people make such a mockery of already? Plus it doesn't make me feel any better knowing that theres an exposed breast in that movie. That's just the candle on the cake. Not ONLY do they TALK about bad stuff. It's actually SHOWN through Drug Trip Cinema and nudity. Yuck.

Well, Pollo thinks that I'm way too sheltered. She's trying to make me believe that this was just how people were and how they responded to problems in their lives. I agree... the 60s happened. But it didn't HAVE to happen. People can respond to problems in both positive and negative ways. And I think that sex and drugs are NEGATIVE Responses. Instead, we should make the best of what we have and be thankful for it. Attitude is everything. So instead of being ENTERTAINED by the 60s lifestyle, let's LEARN from it! Okay? Okay.
Finally, I text. I only get 200 send-recieve a month, which is absolutely nothing, but at least I've got it. Thaddeus, Dake, LutherKid, and Bass have all texted me and I feel so in the loop!! yaya! I'm already worried, though, that this service is gonna take over my life. I can't let it do that. I don't have enough texts to let it do that!!! :)
So yeah, I guess I'll leave you with this song that almost describes Thaddeus to a tee. He saw this song, and we've decided together that Taylor Swift is going to hunt him down at night because obviously she's been stalking the kid if she knows this much about him!!
Haha!
I don't think that passenger seat
Has ever looked this good to me
He tells me about his night
And I count the colors in his eyes
He'll never fall in love
He swears, as he runs his fingers through his hair
I'm laughing 'cause I hope he's wrong
And I don't think it ever crossed his mind
He tells a joke, I fake a smile
But I know all his favorite songs
And I could tell you
His favorite color's green
He loves to argue
Born on the seventeenth
His sister's beautiful
He has his father's eyes
And if you ask me if I love him
I'd lie
He looks around the room
Innocently overlooks the truth
Shouldn't a light go on
Doesn't he know that I've had him memorized for so long
And he sees everything black and white
Never let nobody see him cry
I don't let nobody see me wishin' he was mine
I could tell you
His favorite color's green
He loves to argue
Born on the seventeenth
His sister's beautiful
He has his father's eyes
And if you ask me if I love him
I'd lie
He stands there, then walks away
My God, if I could only say
I'm holding every breath for you
He'd never tell you
But he can play guitar
I think he can see through everything but my heart
First thought when I wake up is
My God, he's beautiful
So I put on my make-up
And pray for a miracle
Yes, I could tell you
His favorite color's green
And he loves to argue
Oh, and it kills me
His sister's beautiful
He has his father's eyes
And if you ask me if I love him...
if you ask me if I love him...
I'd lie

Stuff To Do
I make To-Do lists. I'm sorry. You probably don't care.. but I need to write these things down. i'll be adding updates as I go in different colors, so excuse the mess. This is more for me, not for you. Don't be surprised if some of the numbers are gone. I'm deleting things I finish so the list won't look so long...
3. Finish the Physics chapter and get the yellow packet done. That won't take too long, and you know half the answers anyway.
4. RESEARCH YOUR COMPOSITION PAPER!! THAT'S gonna hurt you if you don't get started on it now. Just look up stuff. Take the time to read it. Maybe go to the library before play practice and get a couple books? You can do it! There's stuff out there! You're just not patient enough to find it! GET SOME PATIENCE. Take the time. All good things take time. And you still got a while, so don't panic. Just do it. Update: 10/20 found some good sites. Will print them out tonight and study during play practice. 10/23 Got lots of good sites... including one stat site. Compile paper over weekend.
6. Ask Death about when you can go visit his church. Either that, or ask Nathan's scout leaders if you can go in and watch them. Just start taking action so you can get your ethnography hours done early. That shouldn't take up too much time, either. Wednesdays and Saturdays work well for you. You're half done when you find the time to do it. 10/20 Dake gave me times but Death wasn't there so I'll talk to him when I see him. he'll give me more info 10/23 Concerned. Too little time for each service. Maybe ask someone else?
7. Get that Eric Whitacre audition learned. Then sometime this week call Sister Mason and ask if we can get something recorded. It doesn't hurt to ask. You still have about two weeks left. See if you can get it done next weekend. Don't put off the preparation any more, though. 10/20 Haven't done it yet, but will get to it after gov paper, etc. MUST WORK ON ON FRIDAY, 10/24.
8. Apply to BYU. Get the paperwork off the website. Fill out what you can. Ask for recommendations, get the evangelical thing signed off, fill out your story. DO STUFF! Quit putting these things off!! will do it weekend
9. Do your laundry! That won't take long, either. And it gives you a break from all that Homework/internet work/paperwork you have to do. Put your clothes away that are piling up at the foot of your bed. MAKE your bed. 10/20 haven't done it. but if i have time after gov. paper. 10/23... still haven't done it.
12. Start signing off more Personal Progress stuff. You can totally do your gov. service hours for a choice and accountability project. Will do friday, 10/24
17. Practice that clarinet music you got. It doesn't look TERRIBLE, but it looks hard enough to be worthy of practice. 10/20 took a look at it during class and it's not that hard. Wondering how i'll sound with the rest of the band without even hearing it once.
18. Still be on the lookout for scholarships. Not many seem to be due by November... maybe look at december ones. Find ESSAYS. They're the best. Nothing yet, but I'll get to it this weekend.

What's Up
I haven't written much here or in my paper journal for a month because life is so busy.
But I'd just like to give you a list of the stuff that's been going on.
1. colleges. Gotta get my BYU application in... and then there's the scholarships. Ugh. I hate them. None of them apply to me and the ones that do require some time-consuming project that I just can't get done.
2. Camelot. I'm learning to like it. I've met some sophomore friends that I like a lot. Chiv, Thaddeus's Brother, and a girl I'd like to call Googly eyes (cuz she likes Thaddeus's brother, and whenever he's in the room she stares at him with these lovestruck stars in her eyes. CUTE) But yeah, things are getting better. I'm really getting to like the guys, in particular. They're just fun to be around. They're in for a good time and I really like just living happy. That's what they allow me to do.
3. Just finished volunteering for John Kline and I got to shake the man's hand. I've shaken a politician's hand... don't know if I should feel contaminated or proud. Haha. No really, Kline's a cool guy.
4. I'm still chatting with Thaddeus a lot. We've come to grips with our differences and accepted them. I tell him all my problems. The only thing I don't feel comfortable talking to him about is how much I really love him. He always says, "Nah, you'll get over me."
Until this one time... when he was like, "You know, I have mixed feelings about you liking me. Sometimes I want you to stop, but other times I'm like, 'Yeah! Chicks dig me!'" That makes me feel a little better... the knowledge that he at least somewhat appreciates my affections. He calles me Stenny, because apparently I write things down like a stenographer. That makes me feel better.
4. School. Ugh. I've got two papers, two textbook chapters, 3 notebook entries, and a bunch of math and science to do. No time to do it. That's why I think i'll sign off now... till next time.
